15 FebQuickFlicker Available for N900, C7 & N8 Now

After a long time, we decided to release a new QuickFlickr version for N900 too. It’s available at Maemo extras devel repository. We have also received some feedback about the “black screen” issue on Symbian^3 devices. Now that problem is fixed.

There are slight differences in the UI depending on which platform QuickFlickr is being ran. This is also something that we will work on later, but before that, here’s the video how our app runs on different devices.

As you can see from the video, there are no new features yet. We’ll focus on stabilizing the UI and in the following versions we’ll introduce new functionalities too.

UPDATE: Here’s the direct link to the previous post where you can find instructions and a link to the Symbian^3 sis file.

Thank you very much for this release, I was missing so much a nice Flickr app in my N900.

But the pictures are not loading in my device, it loads everything but the pictures… any way I can fix that?

Unfortunately there is a bug in Qt for N900. This bug doesn’t exists on any other platforms where we have tested QuickFlickr except on Maemo 5. For some reason when an application tries to load several images from the network in parallel, something (QNetworkManager) gets stucked. After app can’t load any images.

For me, this problem hasn’t existed after PR 1.3 update, but then again, we have received some feedback from other people who have the same problem as you had. One thing you could try is to make sure that you have everything up-to-date on your device.

Thanks for trying QuickFlickr, but we are sorry about your bad user experience.

After reading your answer, I Googled and found out there’s a fix to this bug, just install the package libqt4-bearer-hotfix from maemo extras. As you never had this problem, you probaly have it installed.

I’m not sure it’s possible to do this only for Maemo, but if it is, just add that package as a dependency and the problem will be gone.

I’d also suggest you to announce this great new version in the forum, talk.maemo.org , because it is a really good app and no one commented about it yet (I don’t think people know you released this new UI).

Is there a bug/wish traker for this project? I wish I could skip to the next photo with a gesture, like in the default pictures viewer in the N900. Autorotating the images would also be nice.
