We are happy to let you know that Podmaster has today, on the 2nd of January been resubmitted to Nokia Store for Q&A. This time we have been able to verify the functionality of Podmaster on Symbian Belle, specifically on Nokia 700 and Nokia 701 devices and we are happy to let you know that it works as expected. We hope it will be soon available on Nokia Store for Symbian Belle devices!

We must also add that unfortunately we have not heard from Nokia as of yet when Qt 4.7.4 based applications can be distributed to Symbian Anna devices. We must stress that Podmaster works on Symbian Anna, but due to deployment issues in Symbian Anna, Nokia does not yet allow distribution of Qt 4.7.4 based application for Symbian Anna from Nokia Store. We will let you know as soon as possible when Podmaster is also available for Symbian Anna from the Nokia Store!

Update: While waiting for Podmaster to pass Nokia Store Q&A with the issue they have as noted above, we actually took this into our advantage and ported a very nice feature from the MeeGo version over to the Symbian version; podcast streaming from Podmaster! So you don’t need to download the episode first in order to listen to it but simple stream as you go. Podmaster will have a UI for this.

Update: Nokia has updated the page regarding processing of Qt apps for Symbian (http://support.publish.nokia.com/?p=3766). We are unsure what that means in the long run, but for now were are forced to target only Symbian Belle devices. We hope this issue will be resolved soon on Nokia’s behalf and we apologize for this from our part!

I addition to this we have also released an update for the commercial QuickFlickr. Now there is a search view for Flickr photo search and better looking icons. Don’t worry, search is also available for LITE.

You may ask what’s difference between LITE and the commercial versions then? We decided to be nice guys and we didn’t want to ruin the user experience, so we have only limited the number of images user can browse. In practice you can see only the 20 latest images in grid and fullscreen views, little bit less in Latest updates and Recent activity views and that’t it. Here are the links to OVI Store.

There have been many good improvement ideas on how to make Podcatcher for N9 an even better podcast client. But there was one particular feature request above all: make auto-download configurable. So we did that. From the Settings menu of your N950 / N9 phone you can go to Podcatcher settings and select if you want to have the auto-download feature enabled or not. Still, if you enable it, it will only download automatically if you are connected to a WiFi network and I don’t think this will change any time soon.

But we also added some more cool settings!

You can now also select how many latest episodes should be downloaded automatically – or even all episodes. Another cool setting that we added is the feature of auto-cleanup. If you are like me, you don’t want to maintain the podcast library manually and you really care about the latest episodes. So what you now can do is to set the number of episodes that should be kept on the device and the rest are automatically cleaned from the library. You can also choose if you want Podcatcher to remove non-played episodes or keep them.

Of course, the default settings are the way you are used to from the previous version of Podcatcher.
